"When your body does not respond as normal you traditionally seek a medical doctor. My story us about what happened when I followed that logic and did not get desired results.
For many years I suffered from tinnitus, vertigo, and reduced coordination. I found a leading authority ENT for Tinnitus and Menieres and this was under control for several years. The diagnosis came out as Classic Menieres syndrome. A no salt diet, medication, and supplements were the treatment. Tinnitus became worse with episodes of vertigo and the vertigo episodes increased. Drop attacks (severe vertigo that prevents the ability to stand) became a daily event. This situation developed over a four year period. The symptoms became more severe and my hearing was reduced to the point of not being able to hear from my left ear. This is the point where the discussion turned to surgical solutions involving destroying the inner ear or cutting nerves that lead to the ear. Both solutions were not for me since I witnessed my mother suffering from the same symptoms for many years and then have the surgery to destroy her inner ear. That was over 25 years ago and following the surgery eventually the tinnitus returned in the opposite ear followed by vertigo attacks once again. Today she is deaf and still suffers from these issues.
My wife was motivated to search for an alternative. Anything for relief was the task. Impacts like this start to alter you confidence and even maintaining a conversation with someone becomes a challenge. We had to find another doctor, center, or otherwise to provide an opportunity to beat this. Constant tinnitus, deafness, and concerns of the next vertigo attack push one to a point of frustration. I knew something was wrong and was convinced that it was not psychological. After eating a meal something would happen and my balance would become an issue or I became nauseas or bloated. This was not right and I needed to do something about it. Our search discovered Dr. Johnson and his staff. I came in for a case review and personally discussed what was going on with me. The discussions provided an opportunity to get out from under this situation. Remember, I had been living with this via my mother for almost 25 years and there was always a view that there was no cure. I learned that the symptoms I was experiencing were a result of other things happening in my body. This is different for everyone. A program was developed for me but I needed to give my commitment of several months. I was very skeptical at first because I had never heard of a chiropractor/nutritionist resolving symptoms like the ones being experienced. I would not have believed it until one day early in the treatment process I had a vertigo attack with Dr. Johnson present and he stopped the attack from proceeding. It was then that I was convinced that there is something to this.
I trusted the program and following about six months of testing and treatments I have control over my balance, the tinnitus us not completely gone but greatly reduced and my hearing is partially restored in the effected ear. There have been no vertigo attacks in several months and I have confidence to go anywhere. Following a meal I feel energized! Again, not knowing why things happen in your body I discovered that allergies had inflamed my body and this too is greatly reduced.
So, how did this happen? Dr. Johnson's program included determining allergies and how to eliminate them. I discovered a hereditary issue that was causing increasing issues with age and that did require some life changes. The other ones eliminated were through NAET. Brain-Based Therapy was used to rebuild my balance skills and regular adjustments all had significant impact. The biggest impact to me as a diet change and the restoration of co-ordination skills.
The true test will be in the next six months to determine if the changes are sustainable. There will always be challenges in maintaining your health but so far this made a dramatic positive change in my life.
